Mashbill: 85% Rye, 15% Malted Barley
NOSE: The aroma of this whiskey is reminiscent of a pear, with a touch of rye spice and a hint of clove. It also carries notes of seasoned oak and a subtle hint of leather.
PALATE: On the palate, the rye spice takes center stage, accompanied by a chewy caramel flavor and a touch of leather. There are also hints of apricot and sweet accents throughout. A light grain note adds to the complexity, making it a full-flavored whiskey with a thick mouthfeel.
FINISH: As the tasting experience comes to an end, the flavors of white grapes and oak linger on the palate. The rye spice intensifies, creating a long and satisfying finish.
OVERALL: Starlight Old Rickhouse Double Oaked Rye takes the distillery's standard rye to new heights, offering a whiskey with added richness and complexity. Located on the Huber estate, which has a long history of farming and winemaking, Starlight Distillery produces a range of high-quality spirits. This particular rye whiskey was aged for 4 1/2 years before being transferred to new 53-gallon barrels for an additional 5 months. The double-barreling process enhances the flavors of rye spice, oak, and sweetness, resulting in a well-balanced and enjoyable whiskey.

The sticker on this one features an old Indiana Jones in ‘The rye of destiny’. After a couple glasses of this there will definitely be an afternoon nap on the agenda!
