Chardonnay reflects the distinctive personality of Monterey vineyards, which give rise to juicy apple, guava and melon flavors. Whole-cluster pressing and a combination of barrel and stainless steel fermentation ensures that the creamy texture and caramelized sugar finish is balanced by a crisp acidity.
Chardonnay grapes come from two distinct vineyards in Monterey: one near the Gabilan mountain range where the sandy loam soils result in a higher degree of flavor concentration; the other in the Arroyo Seco, where the temperatures remain relatively cool and the fruit maintains a crisp acidity. When blends the wine from these two regions together, it achieves a lovely balance and greater complexity.
